What you will do: Responsible for completing foster and/or adoptive home studies for the purpose of recommending licensure or certification for prospective foster families. Assess, write home studies, evaluate, and prepare eligible foster families and may recommend additional counseling or training. Formulate assessments of families and individuals, and may need to deny application, licensure, or certification of individual homes. An FFS may also provide post-placement supervision for adoptions, including writing the appropriate reports to the Court. Once a family is licensed this position retains the family on their active caseload and supports them as they provide care for the vulnerable children in the state of Arizona through the foster care system.
Relational – Determine suitability of prospective foster care providers including the preparation of comprehensive psycho-social home study, interviewing applicants for motivation, dynamics and function, and collecting and interpreting collateral information. Prepare prospective foster/adoptive parents regarding program policies and state licensing or certification requirements.
Administrative - Assure foster homes remain in compliance with program policies, child discipline policies, and state licensing requirements always. Maintain written case records and prepare quarterly summaries, annual renewals, amendments, and withdrawals in a timely manner.
Collaborative - Arrange for respite care for the foster family preferably using another CFC foster family; however, if none is available, will secure a respite family from another agency. Act as liaison between the foster family and DCS in matters related to reimbursements and special payments. Participate in regular Foster Care department staff meetings both giving and receiving support from fellow staff members.
What you need: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Family and Marriage Studies or related field
What we would really like: Experienced bilingual candidates, 1+ years’ experience in parenting skills, counseling or in-home support services.
